Skeng is one of the fastest rising Jamaican dancehall artists at the moment. His prospects have been rising steadily over the last couple of years and he is proving that he can take on the industry greats as evidenced by his monster track Gvnman Shift off the 1Matik Riddim by Chemist Records / Raheef Music Group.

The 1Matik Riddim has to be one of the biggest dancehall riddims of the year so far and Skeng’s Gvnman Shift stands out. The lyrics to the song are well written and its easy to grasp the message in the song even for those that don’t speak Patois. “Intellectual murder people edition” has definitely got to be the standout lyric in the song as its catchy and easy to sing along to, it’s what one first remembers when you first listen to the song.

The video is simple and looks like it was short in the hood which fits perfectly with the message in the song.

Skeng’s voice has to be one of the most unique voices in the dancehall scene right now. He has a way of fitting into any dancehall instrumental perfectly. He is definitely one to watch out for in future. This is a dancehall superstar in the making.

Score 8.9/10
